Skin Cancer Checks
At the Hunter Valley Skin Cancer Clinic our doctors are extensively trained and experienced in skin cancer detection and treatment. Our skin doctors are certified by the Skin Cancer College of Australasia and have HealthCert accreditation.
We perform a comprehensive skin check from head to toe looking for any suspicious skin lesions. We offer the highest certainty in detection and surgical outcomes of skin cancer treatment.
Our practice provides comprehensive skin cancer checks and examinations using the latest technology. Dermengine is an intelligent dermatology software for the imaging, documentation and analysis of skin cancer conditions.
Having a regular skin check is the best way to detect any changes to a skin lesion which may not be obvious to the naked eye. Appointments are available to patients without a referral.
Performing a skin check
A full skin check can take anything from 10 to 25 minutes.
A dermatoscope is used to closely examine any spots over the body.
If the doctor finds a lesion that looks suspicious they may decide to take a sample punch biopsy to send to pathology for confirmation of lesion type, spray with liquid nitrogen or take photos to refer to during later skin checks.
